Lester now 10-3

He was the pitcher who had a horrendous April and the Globe was casting doubt all about him.  Now, he continues to carry the team with Buchholz.  I do not doubt this guy's heart.  He overcame cancer and is a proven winner.  Hard to believe that he and Manny were packaged in a deal to the Rangers for A-Rod.  That is one of those deals you're glad to have seen fall through.

Wouldn't it be nice to see both Lester Buchholz win 20 games each this season??!!!

  1. Jon Lester was sucked up into the whirlwind of the wretched start to the season. Like everyone else, it took him a while to find his groove. I too was caught up in the "oh my God, what's wrong with the Sox" hysteria that plagued the first month or so of the season. But, a guy like Lester's not going to tank that easily. There's a quiet confidence about him that suggests he knows he's an ace. There are no gimmies in baseball, but the ease with which Lester goes about his work leaves very little room to doubt him.

I hope you watched Lester closely, Josh Beckett. No one's doubting your will to win, but you need that quiet confidence you once possessed that suggested you knew you were better than everyone else. That's the mark of a winner.

  2. Like the reference to "quiet confidence". Lester certainly has it. Knowing what he has overcome, I always feed good about our chances when Lester is on the mound.

  3. Another instance in which we called it dead on: Jon Lester's an All Star!! The Red Sox are sending 6 players to the Mid-Summer Classic. If Red Sox Nation has anything to say about it, we'll be sending a 7th in Youk. Vote early, vote often!! I hope Vic's at least able to play if asked. Hopefully that thumb will be in better shape by next week. Pedey and Buch should go even though they can't play. They deserve to be there and they should go and represent.
