The HR stats of guys like A-Rod, Bonds, Sosa, et al has really diminished what was once monumental aaccomplishments. Being in the 500-club was once a big deal. Guys like Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Eddie Matthews, Mel Ott, Ernie Banks accomplished their numbers by talent and longevity.
Williams would have made the 600-club had it not been for his serving in two wars and losing several seasons.
For A-Rod and others, 600 just doesn't add up - The Tony Massarotti Sports Blog, featuring Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics analysis
Can you imagine where Junior Griffey could have ended up were it not for all the injuries? Talk about a great swing!
A-Rod the A-Fraud as to HRs.....the sad thing is that he is talented in so many facets of the game.

I'm a purist. I wonder what percentage of A-Rod's HRs are because of the juice? Back in the day, before the art of synthetics HGHs, I wonder how many guys took "Dr. Pepper's Medicinal Brew and Compound" elixirs to try to enhance their performace? Were such goodies available to players before the invention of all the steroids we've come to know? I'd like to think the old timers did what they did on their natural, God-given abilities, and that they were really that good. I don't know the history of medicine, but some enterprising historian, if it hasn't already been done, should look into the history of performance enhancing concoctions from the old days. I know what they used to give racehorses to try to get them to run better. Surely the same things had to be available to human athletes.
