Jed Lowrie could be close to a return. I do not view his return as huge given the fine work of Bill Hall though Jed is a natural infielder.
Also, I see that LHP Pettite is on the DL for 4.5 weeks -- groin injury. The Yankees are getting a bit long of tooth in their core (Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Pettite).

If any good comes from Lowrie's extended time off it's gotta be that his wrist should be completely healed by now and should be a non-factor from here on out. I can't say I'm absolutely disappointed with Marco Scutaro at short this season. He's come through with some key ABs in critical situations, but he's also been plagued by errors at short. He had a couple of good seasons with Toronto, but he's living off the past. I think we only signed him to a one-year deal. Seriously, in the offseason, we need to get a bona fide short stop.
ReplyDeleteThe 'ol 4077th is making its way to Yankee Stadium. Pettite is the first victim. Given the age and the wear and tear of the core, it's only a matter of time. Posada is one that can't seem to stay healthy. The good news is that they have no farm system!! HA-HA!!!!!
