I will go out on the proverbial limb and predict that Theo will make only a minor trade to bolster the bullpen. I do not believe he will give up any top prospects for this deal. I believe he will bring Bowden back up soon. Wake will be in the pen for long relief.
He may throw us his screwball and make a minor trade for a positional player, perhaps an outfielder. I say that only because some of his trades over the years have caused me to scratch my head in disbelief and staring at the computer screen.

I don't like the fact that it's too quiet. You can't believe all the trade rumors, but the sudden radio silence is almost worse than the rumors!! Peter Abraham of Boston Globe fame had an interesting idea earlier today. He suggests just releasing Okie outright and bringing someone up from Pawtucket. I like the sound of this, althogh the thought of keeping Ram-Ram is a bit troubling. If we could get Bowden back and get him the mileage he needs, he could be very effective in the post-season.
ReplyDeleteNESN.com ran an article in which they quote Bard as saying something to the effect that a trade decision is not up to him. He did not mean himself, but was talking about the other guys in the pen. To me, it's unfair to ask the players whether or not they think their teammates should be dangled as trade bait or voted off the island. I'm sure the guys have some definite opinions, but it's not right to want to put such sentiments on the record. Those guys are a united front and the media's so freakin stupid in the questions they ask. Perhaps Ortiz is right about the media!!
