Duquette traded LHP Jamie Moyer in 1996 to the Mariners for CF Darren Bragg. A true salary dump. That same year, he unloaded LHP Mike Stanton to the Rangers for a couple of young pitchers who never panned out. Another salary dump.
I hope that the WS titles in 2004 and 2007 have taken the feeling of desperation away from Theo.
2004 was probably his best year of moves in getting Dave Roberts, Orlando Carbrera, and Doug Mientkiewicz. Of course, he unloaded Nomar Garciappara in getting Carbrera. But, these 3 complemented a well stocked lineup of Varitek, Millar, Mueller, Manny, Nixon, Damon, Papi, Bellhorn, and Manny.
