Nice way to ease into break....

Dice-K comes through.  HRs from Big Papi and McDonald.  Boxscore indicates that Bard pitched 2 innings.  When Ells is ready, that means that either McDonald or Nava will have to return to the minors.  McDonald is out of options and would have to clear waivers first.  That means that Nava will probably return to AAA.

Hopefully, 'Sox can rest up and we can start getting some guys back soon.

  1. I heard Dice, Dice Baby had a fairly good outing today. Well, ok, Dice! It's about time you got consistent! I also heard Beckett had a good rehab start in Pawtucket and was blowing pitches by poor minor league hitters. When I checked the goings on around 3:30, NESN was reporting that Beckett had finished his outing, refused to talk to the press, announced he'd see them all after the break, and then left. When I checked again later on, that story had disappeared in favor of the shock and awe of the AAA guys who faced and watched Beckett's work. Could it be that Stella finally got her groove back?? Could it be that Surly Post-game Beckett has returned?? Maybe he kicked that Zen Buddhist peace mantra to the curb and has returned to his former, unhappy self! I certainly hope so. It's been a long time, Beckett-boo!!

Oh, and bad, evil fan that I am, the first thought that went into my head when I read about Beltre's tight hammy was BRING BACK MIKE LOWELL!! Shoot him up, "3 days of puppy love" for Mikey. But, it looks like Andre the Giant will be ok after all. And, from the radio silence from Miami, we don't know how Mikey's hip is these days. A pre-DL Mikey Lowell, who's vowed all season that he was not sitting on the bench wishing and waiting for either Youk or Beltre to get hurt, surely would have had a fleeting moment of elation when Beltre pulled up lame. C'mon Mikey, admit it! This would've been your big chance! You could've shown them that you have the highest fielding percentage of any third baseman in history for a reason. Mike Lowell owns the hot corner!! But alas, we have fallen back down to earth. Mikey's still on the DL and Beltre will avoid it, but Mikey and the Lowellites can dream, can't they?

Once again, Girardi has given us yet another reason to hate the Yankees and all they stand for. With Morneau out of the AS lineup, Uncle Joe was faced with a dilemma. Youk or big, fat Paul Konerko. Let me guess how long Pinstripe Joe took to make that decision. Long enough to know he didn't want another Sock on his roster. Youk, once again, was voted off the island. I can't say that if it was Tito's call that he'd put one of their stinkin' Yanks on the roster, either. But it just goes to show that the War of the Roses between the Bronx Stinkbombs and the Sox is irreversible.

Well, BREAK ON! Since I haven't seen any games in over a week, I've already had my break. Home Run Derby tomorrow night and then party at RemDaws on Tuesday! I'm still hoping some wayward Sock who chooses not to go home for the break will stop by. There will be a silent auction of signed goodies. For my own financial health, I'm hoping I don't come home with something I totally can't afford. Oh self-control don't fail me now!!
