All Star introductions

Like any diehard 'Sox fan, I do not care for the Yankees.  However, I do like Derek Jeter for his classiness.  I once saw a game in which Earl Snyder, who had just been called up from AAA Pawtucket, recorded his first MLB hit.  As he was settling in on 1B, I saw Jeter run out to the OF to get the ball.  He wanted to be sure that Snyder got the ball -- what a class act!

So, as much as I dislike the Yankees, I do not think that the fans booing the Yankee players upon their introduction was very classy at all.  Though I do not necessarily agree with how some players were selected and there is "stuffing the ballot box", they are All-Stars.  Booing All-Stars, even Yankee ones, is not one of baseball's finer moments.

  1. I was personally with a group of obsessed Red Sox fans during the All Star introductions. Yes, there was booing when the Yankees were introduced. I confess, I was one of those people booing! The rivalry is just too entrenched into Red Sox Nation to expect anything different. I have to say that when it comes to Jeter, I'm not as much of a hater as I am for someone like say... Nick Swisher (punk!!!!) But I can't separate Jeter from the pinstripes. He plays for the opposition.

Tonight, after the game got underway, all of the AL players became my "boys." I just can't ever get behind the National League. That'd be like rooting for the Yankees. Now, I'm not promising that I'll cheer for Swisher if he gets in, but I do want the AL to kick it. Home field advantage for the Sox in the World Series ;)

I have to give a shout out to our Johnny Lester! He looked so comfortable on the mound. He's doin us proud!
