Can't give up these W's

Losing is no fun, particularly on the West Coast.  These types of losses really hurt when one is trying to make up ground.  Wake had a good performance.

Very important road trip.  Cannot lose any more ground to the Rays and Yanks.

Need to bounce back tonight.

  1. A few observations on the past two games. First, Dice-K only allowed 3 hits on Monday night!! That's huge for him. That kind of performance is why we pay him the outlandishly big bucks.

My poor Mr. Wakefield. He actually had 2 1/2 good innings. I thought we were on a roll. With Braden just coming off the DL, it looked as though the Sox were going to cruise. It's too bad Wakie had such a poor last start. He's actually done way better this season than anyone thought he would given his ailments this time last year. Still, being a little shaky doesn't exactly breed confidence now that he's going out to the pen. And, I'm sorry, but the loss on Tuesday night's on management. The reason Ram-Ram was in there was because Ferrell & Tito wanted to save Atchison for today's day game in case Buch runs into trouble his first time out off the DL. Understood. Makes sense. But let's be real. Atchison hasn't pitched in relief in forever. I doubt seriously whether 6-7 pitches on Tuesday night would have seriously compromised him today, if needed. Instead, the brain trust sends in Ram-Ram in relief. After things got dicey, newbie Bowden comes in (in a cannon fodder position yet again) to clean things up. What is the logic behind some of these decisions??? Pap was unavailable for a few pitches?? You've got to be kidding me!!

Another thing. Tim Bogar you need your head examined. If you think you can send a man like Ortiz dragging his caboose from second to home plate, you're smokin something in the California air!! That was the most ridiculous move ever!! Ortiz should've been held at third. You moron!! On his best day, Ortiz is not going to beat a dead-on throw home. Management got us beat. Nuf Ced.

Finally, there was an article in the Globe on Tuesday about the lack of production from the understudy catchers. Uncle Buck seems a bit down on himself for his lack of offensive prowess. Um, lets stroll down memory lane shall we? When Cash was with us before, he was not exactly a silver slugger. He was brought back this time because he was the only available catcher around who knew the starters well enough to become the primary catcher during the healing process. But look at catchers anyway. Vic's good offensively, but in my opinion, he doesn't call that good of a game. Tek calls a masterful game, but has had issues offensively. I know Cash wants to contribute offensively, but he shouldn't get too bent out of shape over it. When Vic and Tek are back, Cash will likely be out of a job.

Day baseball today. My office at 3:30. The game will be on the Monster Monitor!!! Rubber game! It's going to happen today!!
