Greetings down & out fans! I know it's been an abysmal 4 games, but let's face it, we're not all together there right now. No Vic, Tek, Beckett, Ells, Lowell, Buch, Pedey, and DelCarmen. That's a ton of key players. We've had to rely on some good and some bad fill-ins from the farm. It's a good thing Youk's ankle really didn't give way. We have no one to play first right now.
I know it seems like we've hit the skids, but all the injuries are making the losses seem much worse than they are. If we were a healthy team and were still losing, like we were in the first month or so of the year, I'd totally agree that this is just not our year. But all these injured guys will come back. Post-break, we should be back to normal.
C'mon, Wakie Wakie's not done. He's pitched a lot better this year than anyone expected him to given his condition this time last year. He got no run support because the offense was not running on all cylinders. I know. I've said it before. Errors cost us ballgames. Sloppy playing will get you beat. I'm sick of hearing what a great year Beltre's having offensively. If he were a DH, he'd be right on. But he's a position player with more errors than any 3rd baseman in the majors. Nice move, Theo, you jack-ass! What were you saying about range and the last guy we had playing that position (who happens to have the highest fielding percentage of any third baseman in history. Eat you heart out, Brooks Robinson!) Ok, rant over!
Don't worry about our boys. Post-break, with everyone healed and a little R&R under their belt, we should be just fine.
Think I'll go to McGreevy's tonight for a little Sox and Irish pick me up!
I love Southpaw's fire. Though I have defended Theo, many of his moves, particularly for high priced free agents, just have not panned out.
Does anyone remember the trade of 2B Freddy Sanchez for Jeff Suppan who was left off the post-season roster that year (circa 2003)?
Wakie Wakie has tended to pitch well in the real humid weather. Supposedly the knuckler "dances" more in the humid air. Perhaps the 2nd half humidity will help him out some. I recall back in '95, his 1st year in Boston, he pitched in both games of a doubleheader. He was practically untouchable for 3/4 of the season. But, that was 15 years ago and Wake has had more than his share of injuries.
And I am tired of watching them lose. I think Timmy W is done.
