This whole situation is absolutely disgraceful and it makes Theo look like chicken...(fill in your own word here). What further chatter needs to take place? It's either activate or release!! Theo's hesitant to cut the cord because he knows Mikey will clear waivers easily. Theo's running scared that if Mikey gets picked up by another team he'll come back to bite the Sox in the rear, and what kind of a hero would Theo be then?
I'm so disgusted by the way Mikey's been treated. A standup, hard working guy like Mikey shouldn't have to go through this angst. He wants to play and he's worked his tail off to be able to play. Meanwhile, the Ass's Pet (aka Nancy Drew) is kept around when it's day- to-day as to whether he's really up to being in the lineup. I know this is a business, but give me a break!! Mr. Henry's gettin screwed because $12 million has been languishing on the bench all season because Boy Wonder is a moron!!
I saw Mikey in uniform during the game broadcast today so he's around. Two World Series rings or not, I will never forgive Theo for the assinine manner in which he's handled the whole Lowell situation. What goes around comes around and I only hope that when it's Theo's turn, payback will be a bitch!
I know I'm completely emotional here, but one only has to take a look at comments on related articles on the Globe, NESN.com and WEEI to know that Mikey has a following in Boston. Many fans are upset over the way management's dealt with him. Fans are realistic. If Mikey was traded, then ok. That's part of the game. If he was released, well that happens too. But this holding pattern for a beloved, and still viable player, has exceeded the patience of the Nation. Even folks who were happy with the acquistion of Beltre have decried the piss poor treatment Mikey's gotten by mangement this season. Tito has deflected criticism away from himself by noting that decisions of this sort are "way up the food chain" from him. Whatever! Not knowing how to manage people is a problem all over the food chain!
