Split on the road....

Ordinarily, a split on a road trip is not a bad thing except when you're 4-5 GB in the wild card.  Hopefully, Petey's return will add a spark to the lineup and dugout.  Ells back on the DL again -- ugh!

  1. Ok, I know, we are not in a good place. 5-5 on the road is not exactly the roadtrip we were hoping for. Still, there are some positives to have come out of the otherwise dismal 10-gamer. Here's a list:
    *Awesome O'Clock, aka John Lackey, pitched well;
    *Dice-K actually pitched well;
    *Mikey Lowell's OBP is not that far from Youk's, so we have a pretty good replacement there;
    *John Lester's an iron man;
    *Kalish is for real; and
    *the Sox almost made history again with back-to-back-to-back homeruns.

    Now, I could be all deafist and say stick a fork in us because we're done, but I'm not about to do that. Home cookin' works wonders; it always has. The boys are back home for a 9-game homestand against the Angels, Blue Jays and Mariners. Pedey will be back in the lineup on Tuesday night and Tek's not that far behind him. Yes, the Ells situation continues, but you'd think folks would learn by now. The "if" factor plays a big role here. If they'd left well enough alone and kept Ells in center, he wouldn't have gotten hurt; if they'd left him in the No. 9 hole, he wouldn't have gotten hurt. We can spend time dwelling on the ifs, but it's not very productive. All the nay-sayers will be figuring us for dead, but until the last game is played, I'm not throwing the season away.
