He pitched like an ace, scattering 5 hits over 7 innings. Just as important, Tito used Felix and Bowden to close the game. Felix loaded the bases in the 7th but got out of it with a big K. Tito saved Bard and Pap for another day.
Ryan Kalish hits a Grand Slam. This younger has certainly contributed since coming up from AAA.
Perhaps tonight we saw a glimpse of the future with the performances of Kalish, Felix, and Bowden.
As we blogged before, a solid farm system can certainly pay dividends. We saw that tonight.

The NESN AT&T trivia question for Tuesday night asked which former Angels pitcher started the game against the Sox at Fenway on August 17, 2007, 3 years to the date of Tuesday's game. The answer was quite obvious: Awesome O'Clock, alias John Lackey. The flip side of that answer was that Buch made his major league debute opposing Lackey that night. You've come a long way, baby!
ReplyDeleteAlso, great minds think alike. When Felix came in over Bard, a roar went up from the crowd in my living room--ok, it was just me. Way to use your head, Tito!! Spreading the love around the bullpen gets the young guys the miles they need and saves our stoppers for when it really counts. After all this time, do you suppose it's finally dawned on our fearless leader??
The Corn Dog came up big. Now the task for his next game is just to be Ryan Kalish, rookie, not Ryan "Tryin Too Hard" Kalish. You've got a good thing going on kid so don't blow it by over doing it!
