Despite the blown save by Pap, 'Sox win. Recently called up, Ryan Kalish has contributed in past 2 games. Jed Lowrie continues to contribute with his bat.
Nice effort from Uncle Buch. Too bad he did not get the win.
If this is way the 'Sox will play from here on out, it will be an exciting run.
Rays continue to press down on the Yankees!

Due to yesterday's anxiety over the trade deadline, I got none of my other work done. I decided today to focus on the task at hand and perhaps join the Sox in late innings. I kept track of the score every hour or so and relished the fact that by the bottom of the 8th, my boys had a 3-0 lead. They could do it without me! Nevertheless, having had all the American hegemony I could stand, I decided to take a break and watch the last half inning. I expected Buch or someone other than Okie to finish it off for us in the 9th. Wrong!
ReplyDeleteI guess fatigue had caught up with Buch so naturally Tito went with the closer to "save" the game. I hate to join the PapelBOMB bandwagon because 2 of those runs were charged to Buch, but come on, Jon!! Save the lead today not save it for a rainy day!! But the Bad Fan on my right whispered in my ear, "you and Mrs. Brady wanted to go to Picnic in the Park today, but because you live in the stinkin DMV, you couldn't go. If they lose this game, the boys won't be in a very festive mood to party with the fans who are going to the picnic." Yeah, Bad Fan was making a lot of sense right about then. The Good Fan screamed (in a Boston accent) "hay loosah, we're in a freakin' pennant race!" (Seriously, I wasn't hearing voices. I'm alright!) While Good Fan-Bad Fan duked it out, Scu, Scu Scutaro laid down a beauty of a bunt and the next thing I knew "Dirty Water" was blaring.
Ok, so I'm glad for the sake of gaining ground that the Sox won. Walk offs are exciting, but let's not make a habit of it! How many ulcers can one person stand? On the flip side, I'm sure the Picnic in the Park was extra sweet with just having won the series against Detroit. (Hopefully a bunch of ants live in the Fenway turf and partied with everyone else!)
I'm not gonna get over the fact that I missed the Beckett Bowl and the Picnic. I know Mikey was at the Beckett Bowl and unless he had to clean out his locker after the game, he was going to the Picnic. One of the silent auction items was a chance to play board games with Mikey at Fenway. Given what I walked away with the last time I was around a Red Sox silent auction, perhaps it all worked out for the best being stuck in the wretched DMV. No. I can't say I believe that! My chances for a close encounter of the Lowell kind diminish with each passing game.
Tomorrow, Awesome O'Clock, aka John Lackey, takes the mound. I've a new appreciation for John Lackey and his awesomeness! Mrs. Brady knows. The Indians are coming so expect a weepy V-Mart. Before you go all sentimental on us Vic, stop and think who has a better chance of making it to the post-season.
