Got to hand it to our 'Sox. Despite being short-handed, they are putting a whipping on those Devil Rays.
My buddy, Lackey, did okay tonight --- why have I been so hard on him?? Let's hope he steps up. No Dice-K, no Beckett, no problem.

Well, let's not hastily recant our impressions of Mr. Lackey. Although he pitched fairly well on Tuesday night, he continues to get great run support from the offense. Even NESN's Don and Jerry acknowledged as much.
ReplyDeleteDespite the MASH unit in the clubhouse, the Sox are takin care of biznass! Don & Jerry must be reading our blog because they echoed our sentiments about the importance of Tek to this ball club right now. Although a newbie catcher is going to handle Wakie Wakie tonight, Varitek's role on this team never looked as important as it does right now. And how 'bout Bill "Everyman" Hall gettin it done offensively and defensively?! I don't think there's any chance Pedey looses his gig at second to Everyman, but #22 is a capable understudy.
Lookin' forward to more of the Rays Implosion show tonight. (Did we not predict this would happen? NESN or the Globe, if you ever need some real baseball insight, call us!)
Does anybody miss Ellsbury?
ReplyDeleteThe Globe is wondering the same thing. Peter Abraham is questioning whether there's something else going on here besides broken ribs. He points out that other injured players (with the exception of Jed Lowrie) do not disappear from the team for extended periods of time. Ells has been in AZ for a while now and is not really ready to start baseball activities yet. Granted, it might be uncomfortable to travel with the team and not get the proper R&R needed to recover when on the road, but why didn't he stay at his own home in Boston and at least be at the park with the team? Perhaps his agent, the distinguished Mr. Bor-ass, should answer these questions.
ReplyDeleteClarification on my Lackey post. I was attempting to be facetious. He has to string together some quality starts and with minimal run support to make a believer out of me.
ReplyDeleteAs to Ells, Mrs. Tom Brady and I conferred in person today and agreed that something must be up with this guy. I cannot recall a player disappearing like this for such a long stretch. She agreed.
Sure wish Lowrie would re-emerge.
Bill Hall has been a valuable addition.
