Tough loss...

Bard blows the save.  Well, Pap, has been prone to blow one occassionally.  With Lester pitching so well of late, you just expect a "W".

Tough news on Ells: a 2nd rib injury.  It appears he will end up missing a good part of this first half of the season.

  1. Due to absurd policy against blogging at the office (I'll find a way around it somehow), I'm relegated to my home computer. The loss on Thursday night stunk! How do you blow a 5-0 lead so quickly, get it back, and then cough it up again?? Because Paps has not been with the team, Bard's been closing. It's a good warm-up for his future, but it's interesting to note that he closed just about every night this week. Paps never gets used consecutive nights. The problem is that the bullpen's a little shaky right now. Boof is just that--a joke. Joe Nelson's been let go, and Okie's not doing so well. DelCarmen got himself in trouble, but was lucky enough to work out of it. Who does that leave? Ram-Ram. If we're going do something near the trade deadline, we ought to think about getting some help in the pen.

The latest on the Beltre Busters is that Ells probably won't be back until after the All Star break and now Hermida's gone down. At what point does it occur to Beltre to back off? No, he's not doing this on purpose, but this NEVER happened with that other 3rd baseman, who happens to have the highest fielding percentage of any 3rd baseman ever. Just sayin.
