and nice comback from a 3-0 hole. Big Papi continues to hit. Sadly, Lowelll continues to sit. They have got to find some ABs for him.
Pap gives up a solo PH HR but thankfully 'Sox had a 2-run cushion going in. He's not the lights-out closer of recent years when he was almost automatic. But, he is still good.
Has he gone away from his splitter?

How 'bout Dice-K?? The Japanese god of walks didn't walk one batter!! Go figure!! Wednesday night's performance from him certainly adds a layer of comfort to the rotation. If we can start to depend on quality starts from Dice-K, the rotation will end up being so much the better for it. Incidently, politicians are not the only people who spin; baseball people do it too. Yesterday, after the lineup was released, Tito fielded questions about the fact that Vic was sitting depsite his 5-hit night the game before. Tito, in a manner that would make folks on the Hill beam with pride, said that Vic's foot was still a little sore and that he'd be catching Wake Thursday afternoon so Tito didn't want him to have catching duties for a day game after a night game. Brilliant spin, Terry!! Why can't you just say what the fans already know? That Dice-K is a better pitcher with Tek than Vic. Tito pooh-poohed the personal catcher thing once again, but any Diehard knows this is, in fact, rubbish!! Tek is Dice-K's and Beckett's personal catcher. In the interest of winning, it just makes sense.
ReplyDeleteLester and Big Papi are bringing home some hardware for May. Way to go, boys!! Mrs. Tom Brady and I were talking about Papi and wondering where this sudden resurgence is coming from. Hmmmm... Not hitting in April and being written off for dead and then suddenly May brings the Papi of old. He must have called Popeye. The new ads should read "Got Spinach?""
If there is anyone out there who can rectify the Mike Lowell situation, please call the Sox!! I don't know if this whole thing is worse for the Lowell fans or Lowell?? At least he's getting paid!!
Afternoon baseball on Thursday means only one thing for this office-bound fan: a long lunch!! Go Sox!!
