strong candidate to be named to the all star game .
The sox would not be where they are were it not for Buchholz and Lester.
R-ram concerns me. He allowed two baserunners thereby resulting in
Tito summoning Pap in for the final put.
You want to save Pap for the really tough save situations.

I was called away from the game due to academic and animal matters, so I only got to see the first two innings. I did have Don and Jerry back on my TV and not those loopy tourists from AZ, who have apparently never been back east. Welcome to the better coast, gentlemen!
ReplyDeleteLester and Buch should both get the nod for the All Star team. They've both carried our rotation since Beckett and Dice-K haven't been around. I really hope these two represent at the All Star game. I don't think we could ask for two better pitchers.
I'm looking forward to "Felix the cat's" pitching debut tomorrow night. From what John Ferrell says, this kid is going to be a star.
Ram-Ram is a big concern. He's had elbow issues and has had to pitch with it. I think he's too unpredictable. He's not been consistently on. If he's having a rough night, we're going to have to go back to the pen. The Extra Bases blog on the Globe has a piece about the over use of Bard. I think over use is an understatement, but let's face it, other than DelCarmen, Dan is the most reliable arm in the pen right now. I think Pap gets the job done, but he's not 1-2-3 like he was a few years ago. The Sox are very conservative with him and he used to not close two nights in a row, especially if he needed more pitches to get the job done. The same cannot be said for Bard. If they are grooming this guy as the closer of the future, they ought to go out and get another set up guy or reliver so that Dan doesn't blow his arm out before the torch is passed.
Saw the piece on Bard. Too many appearances. Pull back, Tito. With Okey and Ram-Rm struggling, the bullpen is lean. But, Tito must not burn out Bard. He's a hard thrower and they don't bounce back like a Keith Foulke who relied on his changeup.
ReplyDeleteI think they should try Bowden in a middle relief role and see how he does.
Looking forward to seeing Felix pitch. Hope he does well.
