2 out of 3....again

It sure beats getting swept.  Nice to see Mikey Lowell get a chance to play and see him contribute.  Nice picture above of Mikey and Big Papi.

Phillies are a good team.  'Sox gave 'em a good whooping on Friday and Saturday.

  1. In my other non-academic, non-baseball life, I would call taking 2 out of 3 as being a member of the Two-Thirds Club, a horse racing term denoting a racehorse who wins two out of the three Triple Crown races.

Oh why are our Sox members of the Two-Thirds Club? How many times have we seen this happen this season? We ride a wave of momentum in the first two games only to get stomped on in game #3. I didn't jinx us. I wasn't thinking Broom Day thoughts this time. Actually, I was hoping Wake would have a really awesome outing given our pitching situation. With the dicey Dice-K once again out for 15 days, we will need at least one starter to fill in his spot in the rotation. "Atchinson, Topeka and the Santa Fe" may get the ball one more time as a starter, or we could dip into the fountain of youth that is our farm system. Who knows? We may get some kid who'll throw a no-hitter!!

Now, of course I'm going to comment on Mikey Lowell. He got the start at first again today and made a hell of a grab to rob Ibanez of a base hit. He made a throw from his knees to a covering Wakefield. I wish I could call Globe colunmist Peter Abraham. Last week, Mr. A. and I had a war of words on a post in which he claimed that Mikey was dead defensively. Wake up and smell your stupidity, Mr. Abraham!! Did you see Mikey at first today? Looked like he had pretty good range to me. While I hoped he would have a productive day at the plate, I can't say I'm not surprised by a quiet bat. Inconsist hitting throws a guy's timing off. Taking extra BP in the cage ain't the same as seeing live pitching in a game. I thought Tito finally woke up on Friday night and managed his bench the way a manager's supposed to handle a big league club. Every position player who wasn't on the DL got to play. Did you see how effective that was, Terry?

Ok, here we go again. We're facing a Monday with no game!! Oh these blasted days off!!!
