Buchholz again...

He continues to pitch with great confidence.  He as an 8-3 record.

Where would the 'Sox be without him?

I am very grateful that they did not trade Buchholz and other top prospects for Johan Santana back in 2008.  I will never forget this no-hitter against the O's in only his 2nd MLB start in 2007.  He set the bar very high for himself and has begun to attain that high level that fans had come to expect of him.

No pressure, Buch, but I would love to see you named as the AL starter in the All Star game.

  1. I think Buch will be an All Star this year. He's definitely proved he's got the stuff and belongs in an elite class of pitchers. The great thing is that he's still a young guy. We may not even be seeing his best yet!!

I have to say that Friday night's victory against the "doormat of the AL East" looked easy only because the Orioles are freakin' awful. It's effortless to keep pounding away at a team that stinks as bad as Baltimore, new manager and all. The Sox have to bring that same level of energy against contenders. Even with the O's, there are no free passes as we saw last time the Sox were in Baltimore. We need to ride the wave of momentum that we have right now in order to haul ourselves up the AL East standings. It can be done!!

At what point will Beltre stop hot-dogging and let outfielders do their job? That's all we need is for Hot Hermida to go down with a cracked something because of running into Beltre. Beltre's comment after the game was that he keeps going for the ball unless the outfielder calls him off. But at what point does he realize that the left fielder charging in may have a better read on the ball coming in in front of him than Beltre has with the ball going away from him?? I cringed when I saw that collision because I was thinking of Ells. And then the devil on my right said, "if Beltre is injured, they'll have to put Mikey at third." Bad fan!! Then I was angry at Beltre. I understand wanting to make the play and going hard everytime, but bowling over 2 teammates just to be the big man who catches the ball ain't the way to do it! Let's try to avoid doing this again!!
