Biggest Questions Marks Going In?

Biggest Questions Marks Going In? (Originally posted 3/29/11)

I would say the following:

1. Is Salty an everyday catcher or will 'Tek end up catching more games than Salty?

2. Will Pap bounce back? If not, how long does Tito stay with him and who steps up: Bard or Jenks?

3. Will Beckett and Lackey earn their big bucks this year?

4. Will Buchholz perform like last year?

5. What can we expect from Dice-K?

To me, these are big question marks. Of course, the injury bug, like for all teams, is lurking out there like Allstate's mayhem man.

With 11 games down, I would add:

6.  Will Youk's thumb injury/surgery impact him at the plate and how will he adjust to playing 3B again?

7.  How big of a distraction will A-Gonz's contract be?

8.  How will Craw-fish adjust to playing in pressure-city Boston?

  1. I don't think we have answers to any of these questions yet. With 11 games under our belt I think the big question is "what gives?" How can a team like ours have so much craziness? These questions may yield more answers in July than right now.

Everyone, including the Sox themselves are searching for answers. Who is to blame? We've got no run support so our pitchers look really bad. I can't help but wonder if the pitchers are reacting to newbies Curt Young and Salty. You know how these guys love their tried and true. I'm not blaming Curt, but he's the new kid, probably with a differnt work ethic than what they were used to from Farrell. I think the woes will even themselves out, but it's hard to overlook all the changes and the difficulty adapting to them. I should've been a ball player. I hate change too!
