Sox extend Buchholz
I would have rather seen where the 'Sox finally come to terms with an extension with Gonz. Neverthless, I like the idea of locking up the young talent to long-terms prior eligibility for free agency. This was a practice of Dan Duquette who locked-up team cornerstones such as 'Tek, Nomar, and Lowe when he was at the helm.

This extension should give Buch mental security. Who doesn't want job security? It should encourage Buch to focus on his pitching and not worry about if/when/where the separation from Boston comes. Now all he has to worry about is being that dominant starter again. Money matters mess with your head and produce all kinds of craziness. Security should work wonders for Buch's pitching.
