Inching toward .500

I will admit to having been a bit nervous as the 'Sox starting pitching struggled and the hitting was weak.  I believed, though, that the poor showing could not last but was not sure how long.   Despite starting 0-6, our beloved 'Sox have inched close to .500 ball and within 3.5 games of first place.

The O's and J's have fallen to the cellar -- what say ye now Buck?  What happened to that fast start?  Don't you know that MLB is a marathon and not a sprint?  Okay, I will admit to being still a bit miffed at Buck and will give him credit for calling both Tito and Theo.

Hopefully, the 'Sox will take care of business in Camden Yards and silence Buck and the O's.  A sweep would be just what the doctor ordered.

  1. After the first 9 games, who was expecting that record?? Things are much improved of late. It seems Stella's got her grove back!

I'm hoping that the smirk gets wiped off 'ol Showalter's face. Yes, he called Tito and Theo, but still...If he had a team like the Yankees, it would mean something different. To be at the helm of a sinking ship like the Orioles, the comment was totally grounds for Masshole retaliation!

There's a very good piece in today's Boston Glob on the new and improved Jason Varitek. It seems the captain has righted the ship of state and all is smooth sailing now. I can't help but celebrate everytime Tek catches. We all know about Beckett; Dice-K seems a bit special; and now he's got Buch tonight. The only one who really doesn't seem to care who he throws to is Mr. Lackey. That's 'cause he's so Awesome! It doesn't say much about the confidence of the staff and management in Salty. I even think Vic adapted more quickly coming in from a trade than 'ol Salty. As long as Varitek is physically able to be behind that plate, he should continue to have the dominant role.
