He has been handed a great opportunity in a great situation. He learn from a classy guy like 'Tek, does not have to feel pressure to hit with the lineup the 'Sox have on paper, and on a team that needs a young catcher. Can he put it all together this year?

Salty may suffer the whole Boston angst thing this year. Then again, after being with the club for a short time last season, he may be a bit more comfortable than if he was a bona fide newbie.
ReplyDeleteBeckett said that Salty has Tek-like qualities. That's really saying someting, coming from Beckett! The biggest question mark is his ability to handle the staff well. He doesn't need to be huge offensively--although this would be a plus. He's got to be able to nurse a starter through some trouble and handle the relievers. I think as we get more games under our belts and he's exposed to more situations he'll adapt quickly. Just so long as that throwing thing's been nipped in the bud. He still has a very odd way of getting the ball back to the pitcher, but at least it's going back to the mound! I think this kid's going to be all right.
