Though I like reading about the young talent 'Sox have been seeing thus far in Spring Training, I would be reluctant to trade Cam at this point. I understand that he is a good influence in the club house.

Work and academics are wreaking havoc on my postings!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I completely concur that Cam should not be traded this season. First of all, we haven't gotten our money's worth for him yet. He came in last season, but was sidelined with injury shortly thereafter. We need a full, productive season out of him. Yes, we'd get someting FOR him, but we paid for him initially.
Second, we all know the Nancy Drew saga. What's to say JD won't be sidelined by some thing or another this season? Now that we have a hernia-free Cam, he is an essential piece of the pie if/when Drew falls apart.
Third. We all love Corn Dog Kalish. We all know that he has great potential in the organization. There is no question. But, this year we need to lean on our veterans. We need to rely on guys with major league miles. Last year we had no choice but to rely on the farm. If we are seriously going to compete this season we have to put all our eggs in the journeymens basket. If we face another situation like last season--and again we hope the chicken bones, vinegar and chanting have done the job--then it's safe to say we will look to guys like Kalish to step up again.
I think we need to see what we can get from Cam on the field before we dangle him on the market at trade bait. Theo, are you listening??
