This deal needs to get done in April. Otherwise, the Boston Press will have a field day all season with the speculation, second guessing, and blame game. All this will serve as an unnecessary distraction.
Plus, it would be awful to have trade 3 top prospects to "lease" Gonzalez for one season.

So true! We saw how the whole thing went down with Vic and J-Bay. With J, it messed with his head and his productivity went down mid-season. What's the deal with the hemming and hawing? Why can't people who are paid to hammer these things out sit in a room and come to some kind of settlement?
ReplyDeleteThe other reason for the snail's pace is that once the season starts, the Sox don't have to pay some kind of dreaded tax. What's another couple of mil' when you're this far into it?
