Good news on Beckett...
glad he averted serious injury and that the coaching staff are exercising caution with him. Despite the scare, I believe I would have had greater concern if something similiar had happened to Lester or Bucholz. For me right now, those two are the anchors of the starting five. Beckett, Lackey, and Dice-K, to me, are big question marks coming into the season.

Indeed, very good news on Beckett. In a very un-Beckett-like fashion, he presented the fungo flair coach with a bright yellow hat & neon orange traffic vest so that all the players would know where he is! When I saw the video of this on NESN, I instantly recognized Fungo Flair. I see him at all the BPs I go to before the games. Now I can put a face with the incident.
ReplyDeleteFrom what the Globe is reporting, just by sheer calendar days Lester is on target to start Opening Day. Since he goes every five days, a brilliant journalist with a lot of time to kill has actually counted the days he starts for the remainder of the spring. If the rotation holds up, Lester will start Opening Day. I believe that's how it should be. I'd go Lester, Buch, Lackey, Beckett, Dice-K, but that's not the order they're in now. Lackey's #2 the man in the rotation presently.
I'm not too worried about our Awesome O'Clock this season. I believe him when he says he's more comfortable than this time last year. Who isn't? I think this season we're going to see the John Lackey we thought we'd signed. (Disclaimer for Mrs. Brady: he's not my new baseball boyfriend! I'm still going to wear #25)
