'Sox take the first game

Another solid performance from Buchholz coupled with support from Youk and A-Gonz.  Bard and Pap each gave up a run but 'Sox held on.  A-Gonz seems to be hitting a nice stride.  He is hitting with power to both LF and RF.

Craw-fish continues to struggle but he is now over the Mendoza line.

Reports/rumors reveal that 'Sox are interested trying to lure one of the Molina brothers out of retirement.

  1. I must admit that I was a little worried before game time. Buchholz is "like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." But damn if that boy wasn't spot on!! It was his best game of the season so far. And I must say too that Salty did fab! He and Buch were workin it together. That's a good sign. That only leaves the two problem children in Beckett and Dice-K to Tek. He can handle that.

Kudos to Tito for not getting all freaky over Buch's pitch count either. Over managing is almost as bad as undermanaging. He recognized Clay was on a role and just let him do his thing until it was time to bring in Bard, regardless of the pitch count being over 100.

All in all, a really good effort. I won't be convinced that we've hit our stride, however, until we put together a 5-7 game winning streak. We've been on this roller coaster ride before.
