So far this season, the 'Sox have had stops and starts. Right when we think that they are getting into gear, they hit a rough patch. They have not been able, yet, to achieve any consistency. It has been a bit frustrating to see them so struggle so much given the talent that they have.
Seeing Jenks and Wheeler go to the DL so early in the season is a concern. More of a concern has been their performance so far.
I wonder when this team will hit its stride for 2011?

Ok. Before heading down the rant path of no return, let's focus on some of the positives of late. Crawfish is no longer the worst offensive left-fielder in the game; A-Gon has discovered the wall at Fenway; and Tito got himself all fired up and thrown out of a game!!
ReplyDeleteAlright, moment over. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with this team? Funny, we said the same thing last year at this time. Lack of chemistry? Discontent? We couldn't quite figure it out, and then the injuries started. It was, after all, a "bridge" year. In contrast, 2011 was supposed to be different. But I've got to tell you, I haven't seen anything spectacular from this team yet. The fans get teased with a little mini winning-streak and taking down some big time pitchers like Weaver (blonde idiot!), King Felix, and the Red Heran from Arizona. But these victories are few and far between. Youk ain't hitting all that well; Pedey's in a slump; and Jumpin' Jed Lowrie flat out sucks right now. Two major errors in one game, Jed??!! We thought we had found the Scutaro solution! I thought Tito's idea (really mine!) of giving the problem children to Tek was a fab move. Today, however, Sea Salt caught Buch. YES, WE WON TODAY despite yet another rain delay. But is today going to be enough momentum?
Honestly, the fact that Wheeler's on the DL is NOT upsetting in any way. The guy CAN'T pitch. I'd love to know if it was a man-crush that prompted his being signed, because it sure as hell wasn't bona fide talent. Wheeler hasn't been the dominator he was with the Rays either.
I'm not losing faith in this team, but the frustrations are mounting all around. This team has to ditch the Flat Stanley syndrome before it's too late!!
