'Sox stay hot

They continue to hit and pitch well.  The ageless Wake continues to be the ultimate safety valve, stepping up when and where needed.  Ells is not only hitting well but with power.  Combined with his 18 SB so far, he is quickly becoming the quintessetial leadoff man.  Theo may have to consider locking him up in a deal similar to what he did for Pedey, Youk, and Lester - all 3 were signed to long-term deals prior to arbitration eligibility.

Speaking of SBs, Ells, Pedey, and Craw-fish have 35 combined thus far.  I recall the days in which the 'Sox might steal 35 all season.  It is such a welcome sight to see such speed in the lineup.

Craw-fish continues to put his horrendous start being him.

  1. Another question: raise your hand if you are in love with Tim Wakefield? \O/ This guy is unbelievable!! I don't want to hear any more talk about "spot starts" and "mop-up guy." Wake is a starter. Period. If you read his book "Knuckler" (largely written by Tony Mazz--unlike the Mikey Lowell book which was totally Mike) you get the sense that throughout Wake's career he's been the punching bag. Relief, starter, closer, whatever he's been tasked to do for the good of the team. You almost feel sorry for him because he's not like other pitchers (disclaimer--he's made a fabulous living.) Still, I hope this guy can surpass Cheatin Roger the Rocket's record of wins because there's no one more deserving than Wake!

I also want to throw the book at the next doofus who questions why our little boy is hitting in the sixth hole! Who the heck cares what number Crawfish is in in the batting order? He's producing out of the #6 slot right now. Finally, Tito has a lineup that is CONSISTENTLY producing. Why tinker around with things when everything had fallen into place? Yes, the know-it-alls say that we're paying Carl way too much money to be hitting so low in the batting order. My answer: you're getting your money's worth 'cause he's HITTING. I'm not one for where a guy hits in the lineup. The most important thing is that he's in the lineup to begin with. C'mon, people! Where exactly is Tito supposed to put Carl? Ells is the bona fide lead off guy (in spite of my Spring Training critique that he shouldn't be--but that was before we knew he was really cured), and Pedey's definitely the #2 guy. There's no sense moving Gonzo and Youk because they've become the new David and Manny. Could you move Carl up to the #5 hole ahead of Ortiz? Sure, but how does it look to have the DH sliding down the flag pole when he's been hitting too? I think our lineup is fine the way it is. I wish the arm chair managers would pick on something else.
