Beckett was locked in a classic pitching duel. 'Sox had runners at the corners after Joe Maddon had A-Gonz walked intentionally. Youk delivered a 3-run HR which is all Beckett needed. He is certainly back and his ERA is below 2.00. Welcome back, Josh!
I have been remiss in my postings due to academic fatigue--and general fatigue for that matter!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the Nation is in love with Beckett. He is pitching like '07 World Series Beckett! After some pretty rough seasons, I didn't think Josh was ever going to pitch well again. He had some kind of "thing" he was going through. I can't thank his wife enough for pulling him out of his funk. I'm usually not a fan of the wives--for obvious reasons--but Mrs. Beckett has managed to turn our boy around. You go girl!
I can't help thinking that Beckett's success is due in part to Blanket being behind the plate for every start. Had Tito not been such a freakin' mule the last two seasons, perhaps Beckett wouldn't have stunk so bad. He's such a head case that I can't help thinking how uncomfortable he was with Martinez. You've gotta go with your gut, and Beckett was obviously not happy with V-Mart. Why do so many people poo-poo the whole "not broken" thing? Don't tinker with success!!
