Ebb and Flow

After getting swept by Ozzie's Chisox, our 'Sox swept the A's.  A colleauge at work and 'Sox fan commented that this could be a team of streaks.  Now, it is on to the Bronx for another series with the Yankees who continue to either cling to or hover near the divison's top.  Where now is all the talk of the aging Yankee players?  Perhaps that age may manifest itself during the season's stretch.  We'll see.

For the 2nd straight week, a 'Sox player is named AL player of the week.  This week:  Big Papi.  Seems to me that he is out to prove something besides this being his contract walk year.

A-Gonz continues to play and hit steadily.

  1. If anyone can explain the workings of this team to me, I'd love to hear it! We get swept by a team like the ChiSox and then rout a team like the A's. If you ask me, there's no difference in those two teams. I guess we click on all cylinders at certain points.

Kudos to Mr. Lackey for a very good outing yesterday. I thought he looked a little more sure-handed than he has looked in prior starts this season. I hope this is the beginning of a nice trend for him.

If Papi is out to prove something, he certainly picked the right time. It makes me wonder what his secret is. When you've had two consecutive seasons of slow starts and then you suddenly are rockin' it this year, I'd like to know what the difference is. It is simply that "the year of the pitcher" is over and starters are back to being human? I'm skeptical of Toronto's Jose Bautista. His home run streak certainly raises some questions as to how he's doin it!

A word to the wise, or simply those of you out there. I'm going behind enemy lines tomorrow. Yes, I'll be in Yankee territory, although I will not be at Yankee Stadium for the game. The fact that I will set foot on Yankee soil fills me with disgust. Thankfully I'll be protected while driving. My vehicle comes equipped with a Red Sox decal and license plate frame. I will possibly be subjected to the YES Network tomorrow evening. God help me!!
