Not to get ahead of ourselves...

Big Papi, Drew, Pap, and perhaps a few others will be free agents after this season.  It will be interesting to see how this may serve as extra motivation for these players.

I am hoping that the extra bullpen help Theo has brought in will take some pressure off of Bard this year.

Talk of a 100-win season is entirely premature.  Let's get into June before such talk occurs.   Let's not forget the ex-Idiot tandem of Damon and Manny in Tampa Bay.  That will be interesting to watch this year.

Lots of story lines to blog on during Spring Training.

  1. I think they got the 100-wins from me. I called that weeks ago when I saw the air leak from the Yankees' dynasty balloon. The Red Sox certainly have the man-power to win 100 games. There's no question whatsoever as to the capability of this team. We hope the injury curse has been exorcised from this team. (Chicken bones, some vinegar and a little chanting can't hurt either!) But seriously, the Sox really have the potential to win 98+ games this season.

Ok, I'm calling it now. Sox, 98 games, Yankees, 85 games. I think the division will shape up like this:

    Red Sox
Baltimore (I know. I choked too when I wrote it)
    Toronto (not bad John Farrell!)
    Yankees
Tampa Bay (seriously, there's even less hope for Joe Maddon's group. They lost a lot of their offense. Johnny and Manny cannot make up for it either)

So, here we are atop the AL East and it's only February. It's a harbinger of things to come!

  2. The Devil Rays really threw me with trading Garza away.

  3. They are so toast! Crawford, Wheeler, Garza, Pena. That's quite a lot of big guns to lose. I honestly looked at their signing Manny and Johnny as acts of desperation. Seriously, who else were they going to get?
