Ready to jettison the Boston Globe's coverage

We are not even 40 games into the season and the Globe has been pushing the theme "can the 'Sox get back into the race?"  I can see why Ted Williams, Yaz, and Jim Rice had such strained relations with the Boston Press.  They have to be some of the most negative reporters I have ever read.

Anyone else have an alternative newspaper or website to recommend?

  1. Yes, the Globe can be a bit provocative and irritating. Christopher Gaspar was just about run out of there in February when he penned a column about how ridiculous Truck Day is and how Sox fans needed to get a life. I think he's been assigned to the Celtics since Spring Training ended!

I'm an obsessed Sox fan, so I check the Globe at least 20 times a day to find out what's going on. Other than NESN and WEEI, I don't know what other site is one-stop shopping for Sox news. ProJo seems too far away to have the same level of coverage that the Globe has. I don't think the Boston Herald is as good as the Globe either. Part of the fun of the outrageousness of some of the Globe columns is commenting on how moronic some of the columnists actually are! They do things purposefully just to get that level of annoyance from readers.

  2. Agree on Projo and the Herald. RedSox.com does not provide enough in depth coverage.

Tony Mazz used to be at the Herald and was a little less negative back then. Must have been drinking at the Globe water cooler long enough to begin sounding like Ryan, and O'Shaunessey (sp?). I e-mailed the latter once and told him how worthless and totally saracastic one of his columns were -- no response from him.

I, too, go to the Globe several times a day given its more current coverage.
