"Doc" Halladay is 6-2 for the Phillies this year. Sure glad 'Sox do not have to face him several times this season as was the case when he pitched for the Blue Jays.
I was a bit surprised to see Big Papi at 1B and Youk on the bench last night.
Ells was activated for yesterday's game. Good to have him back.

I'm really annoyed with Ortiz right now. He went on WWEI on Thursday and called everyone out for the {sob} way he's been treated since the season started. He also mentioned how hurt he was that he got pinch-hit for. Boo-hoo, man! The fans and the media do not owe him a thing!! We expected the Big Papi of old. No one could stand to watch him stand at the plate and pop up balls or go down swinging. Combined with the teams other woes since the beginning of the season, Papi's only added to the misery. Ortiz, my philosophy is: if you produce, you can play. Up 'til now, you haven't exactly been producing. The team's trying to do everything it can to put wins together. If that means sitting you down or getting Mikey to hit for you, so be it!! Get over it! The team's not called the Ortiz Red Sox!!
ReplyDeleteI do not like it when players complain publicly either to sports writers or those on the radio. These folks live for this stuff -- it is what they do for a living. Despite his many critics, I always respected Jimy Williams for his "in the house" response when reporters tried to scoop up trouble, meaning that stuff stays in the clubhouse.
ReplyDeleteI still think Ortiz should sit against LHP until he proves he can hit them consistently.
