The picture says it all...
I don't know about you all, but this looks like taunting to me. Perhaps it is a response to how pitchers pump their fists or yell out when they get a K or key out. Regardless, I think MLB should rein in such antics, for both hitters and pitchers. At least the NFL has rules against and penalties for taunting.
A disappointing loss nonetheless.

Nah, not a taunt. Just old fashioned jubilation. Had we won, Pap and the boys would have done the same thing. I probably would have posted some Stankee slam on Facebook too.
ReplyDeleteI was moments away from doing just that when the whole thing imploded. Now, the fallout this morning in the Boston Globe has Dice-K at odds with Vic; the pleading for Ells and Cam to come back sooner rather than later; and on WEEI, Mikey Lowell is at his wits ends with the whole situation.
I could go into this long diatribe about what's wrong with the Sox, but I think it's pretty clear. Boy Wonder's "bridge year" phrase keeps rattling around in my head. Hey Theo, bridge this!! Thanks for breaking what wasn't broken.
I sure hope that Theo does not trade Lowell!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I hate to admit it but I think the best thing for Mikey would be if the Sox released him outright. Either way he's not playing, but if he's on his own, his agents may be able to get him another gig. Judging from the story on WEEI today, he's very frustrated with the situation, and he has every right to be. He's not in the lineup tonight against lefty Sabbathia. This just stinks for him. Yes, he's getting paid $12 million and he told the fans during Spring Training not to feel sorry for him. We don't. I, however, am angry for him. This is a stinkin' way of treating a World Series MVP and a guy who played in pain the last two seasons. I only hope when it's Theo's time to be phased out, what goes around comes around.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, the Lowell-ites are learning to live without Mikey and hating it.
So, Beckett goes tonight. Does the mystery continue?
