Lester - the Stopper

Strong effort from Jon Lester last night.  Hopefully, he has turned the corner and will now be more consistent.  Now, we need for Beckett and Dice-K to turn it around and, then, the starting rotation could be as dominant as previously billed coming out of spring training.

  1. Lester was just what the doctor ordered. The bleeding was stopped. And, how about the offense? When the pitcher gets rolling, so does the offense! Even Papi was getting it done (although he's going to have to put together a consecutive string of productive ABs to convince me he's still worthy of being the DH. I'd prefer Mikey to have the job permanently).

How come it took Beltre so long to put those sport specs on? He made no errors and had good ABs after he started wearing those things. Perhaps he wasn't able to see before. Seven errors in the first month of the season ain't gonna cut it, especially when he was touted in the offseason as the second coming of third basemen. How many errors did Lowell have last season?

Also, I totally dig the high reds that Pedey was wearing last night. (I know a guy who used to play minor league ball and he calls them "knocks.") I think Pedey should wear them from here on out. It seemed to be good karma. I mean, the fans did their thing last week (or this fan did with the upside down Wally, eating the same thing for dinner, wearing the same Red Sox clothes and sitting in the exact same spot on the couch), so now it's the players turn. I would love to see all of them in high reds! Was it me or did Pedey look taller in them?

Jays roll in tonight so hopefully the guys can hold it together. Who's on the mound tonight, Dice-K? If so, turn your Wally and wear your own high reds!!

  2. Call me an old-timer, but I like the high reds. I liked the 2004 team with Millar, 'Tek, and Bellhorn who wore the high reds.

  3. According to redsox.com, John Lackey is going tonight.

  4. Ok, so one more night for Dice-K to get himself in order. Still, for karma, Pedey should stick with the high reds.

WEEI reported that Beltre wore clear glasses to protect his eyes from the wind. Whatever the reason, Adrian, stick with 'em!

  5. If the high reds and glasses translate into W's, then I'd say stick with 'em! Don't mess a streak or a good thing.

  6. I find it very interesting that the media commented on Beltre's specs, but made no mention of Pedey's high reds. Maybe for the sake of karma, they're not supposed to. We'll all pretend that he's been wearing them all along, especially if he wears them tonight and we win!
