Update on Carl Crawford

Long-term, I think this is a good sign that Crawford is anxious to put last season behind him. The risk, of course, that he pushes himself too hard and prolongs full recovery from the surgery.

Update on Carl Crawford

  1. Call me over sensitive, but I have a problem with the whole Crawford rehab thing. We only found out in late December/early January (maybe?) that Crawford had had wrist surgery and was not likely to start Opening Day. After his dismal 2011, this was not good news.

But dude comes to camp and he's doing things in the outfield and bunting of all things! Seems like anything in the batting cage is ill-advised at this point. Not so much in a bunt attempt, but if you don't hit the ball off the sweet spot of the bat, the vibration of the ball off the bat will ring your bell! Any kind of cage work can't be doing his wrist ANY good. Obviously, there's been a set back.

Kid gloves, people! Starting the new season on the DL is not the way to make amends. He should probably be wearing a brace or guard on that wrist too. The pictures I've seen of him this spring have that wrist totally unprotective. Not good. What's the training staff up to?
