Lowell takes a bad hope...Salty out for the year

Can this season get any worse on the injury front?  I am thinking that they should shut down Lester and Buch, too, lest they get hurt pitching in meaningless games.  Beckett, Lackey, and Dice-K need the extra work.

  1. You all have witnessed a legitimate Ironman. Who else but an Ironman could take a bad hop like that to the head, get up and man his position? Move over Cal Ripken. Mikey Lowell is THE Ironman.

Can you believe this? The guy's like 5 games away from retiring. I'm sure he does not want to spend the rest of the "season" on the DL. Imagine the horror of the Lowellites who saw their fave go down. No. Not Mikey. Say it ain't so! Call it luck, baseball experience in learning how to deflect something coming at your head, or the cat-like reflexes Mikey's been tarred and feathered for seemingly lacking, the man escaped one hell of a serious injury. The Boston Herald wrote that as Mikey got up, Curtis Granderson, nee deliverer of the bad hop, asked Mikey if he really was ok. In true Mikey Lowell fashion, the Ironman responded that as long as the ump didn't rule it as an error, he was fine. Damn!! What a guy!!

I know the Lowellites are not looking forward to the end, but thankfully, Mikey will stil be around in retirement. When he fell to the ground last night, you had to wonder if he wasn't seriously hurt. Whew!! Mikey and his fans dodged a bullet. So glad he's ok!!
