I hope Theo is not ready to give up on Ells. I am concerned about the mental damage done to Ells. I believe he is a great talent but given what has happened, I am not sure if he will want to continue playing in a town that "eats its own". I sure hope that he stays and returns to both physical and mental health. It would be a great story on developing mental toughness and showing his critics that they were wrong about him.

Jacoby's got to weather this storm if he wants to stay and play in Boston. This is not Ells's first year in Beantown. He knows how tough it is to play here. He'd better suck it up and get over whatever issues he has. Quite frankly, I think he'll have a fight on his hands with Corn Dog Kalish for the starting center fielder job next season. I think Ryan's proved that he's a very capable center fielder. He can produce no matter what spot he hits in the lineup. He's made some great plays in center and can also play other outfield positions without bitching about it. If I were Ells, I'd make up my mind now that I'm coming back of sound mind and body in 2011 to fight for my job.
